In chapter 15, I think it is so sad how these people are treating black people. I know that’s how it went in the olden days, but Scout saved the day by sneaking out and talking to Mr. Cunningham. Atticus is one dedicated and kind man to protect Mr. Robinson. In chapter 16, it shows you how much of a difference whites are treated then blacks. The blacks had to sit in the top part of the courtroom and then whites got to sit on the bottom floor. Chapter 17 was intense with the court case. Ewell seems so dumb when being asked questions; it’s so obvious in a way that the Tom didn’t hurt the girl! They’re just having this case b/c he’s black seems like. Chapter 18 was really fun to read. Atticus asked the lady so many good questions and she was so dumb! She couldn’t even answer most of them and felt so pressured. She knows her father did it, but she can’t admit it! Frustrating yet good chapter. In chapter 19, the lawyers asked really good questions to the witnesses. Tom’s story is completely different than the Ewell’s. Tom’s seems more truthful, I feel so bad that he has to go through this and people are so rude to him-Mr. Gilmer. Chapter 20 was creepy with Mr. Raymond talking to them. I didn’t really understand it, but it kind of creeped me out. Atticus’s ending talk was so good! It was really well written, and it made complete sense. Cal really yelled and was mad at the kids for going to the court case in chapter 21. They always get in trouble, she shouldn’t be surprised or anything. I’m so sad that Tom didn’t win. But I thought it was interesting how the the judge wanted Atticus to defend Tom b/c he had such a chance to win this thing over w/ a Negro on his side. It’s so sad and it’s so obvious that Tom didn’t hurt the girl! Chapter 23 was a big learning experience for the kids. They disagreed with what everyone thought and I agree with the kids. They didn’t understand why everyone hated or treated people a certain way on how the people act of live who just who they are. Chapter 24 was boring with the ladies just sitting around talking. But when they heard that Tom died I was so sad. I’ve already seen the movie so I knew what was coming but it’s so sad to think he was so scared. Just aggravates me how much people didn’t like black people back then. He had such a chance of winning the case if he just held on a little longer!! It was sad seeing Mrs. Robinson’s reaction when she found out her husband died in chapter 25. Must have been hard to tell her that and to hear it! I don’t get the end of the chapter though on how Jem would never speak to Scout again if she said something to Atticus. I didn’t quite catch what she wasn’t aloud to speak of.
